AAMA seeks a full-time Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern for our methadone treatment program located in Laredo, TX.

 

Under the supervision of a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, is responsible for substance abuse program delivery to assigned clients including, but not limited to screening, assessments, admissions and discharges, treatment plan development and general overall care of clients. Provides group counseling. Is responsible for scheduling all appointments for clients, including lab work, physical/medical, and nutritional assessment. Attends and actively participates in periodic training sessions. Maintains client confidentiality per AAMA policies and maintains professional relationships with clients at all times. Spanish speaking strongly preferred. Hours 7:00 am-4:00 pm. Occasional Saturdays

 

 

Qualifications

 

5. Minimum Associates degree or higher
6. Must be approved as a Counselor Intern by HHSC.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
8. Comfortable workoing with an IDU population
9. Keeps required training current: Non-violent crisis intervention, DSM-V and other
