The role of the Maintenance Technician is crucial in maintaining a safe and clean environment for our staff and students. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine servicing/repair operations to maintain buildings, equipment, furnishing, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition as directed in a timely and accurate manner. The position requires professional and courteous behavior, as well as clear communication with others. To deliver exceptional results every time, the Maintenance Technician must pay careful attention to details and be committed to getting the job done right. Time should be used wisely by focusing on daily cleaning needs throughout the building, with positive results by the end of each day. Performs urgent, corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required; performs preventative maintenance on equipment and physical structures as needed, maintaining related records. Maintains and repairs HV/AC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency in all environmentally controlled areas.
- Adhere to District policies.
- Ensures the safety of students, clients, and others. Adheres to AAMA policies, procedures, and standards regarding supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
- Keeps supervisor informed on the status of work projects and any problems that arise during work.
- Keeps all vehicle license registration and state inspections current.
- Makes all necessary repairs, as assigned, before audits and inspections by funding sources.
- Unlocks and locks buildings as required.
- Meet with vendors and collect proposals for work to be done.
- Ensure all doors function properly (lock, open, and close) as directed by the State of Texas School Safety Board.
- Periodically checks, as directed, life safety equipment to ensure compliance with state and local regulations and funding sources.
- Makes deliveries and picks up necessary maintenance parts, donations, and supplies.
- Meet with the fire marshal and make necessary corrections as needed.
- Special attention and care toward required standards issued by the CDC and Department of Health.
- Other duties as required or as assigned.
- Be punctual and available in the school during official working hours.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

- Minimum of three years’ experience in support of custodial services is required.
- Ability to read and understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures instructions.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
- Experience within a school setting is preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
